The Holly Pond Historical Society, Inc. was incorporated in 2008 and became a part of the section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code the same year.

The purpose of the Holly Pond Historical Society is to preserve the history of Holly Pond and the surrounding communities that make-up the Holly Pond school district.

Our goal:

  • To collect any material which may help to establish and/or illustrate the history of this area.

The purpose of the Holly Pond Historical Society Inc, as stated in the incorporation papers, will be as follows:

  1. To preserve the history of Holly Pond and the surrounding communities composed of the Holly Pond school districts
  2. To collect any material which may help establish and/or illustrate the history of Holly Pond, Alabama.  This collection shall consist of printed matter, such as genealogies, newspapers, letters, journals, ledgers, photographs, family stories, relics, and anything that relates to the past of the Holly Pond area.
  3. To locate graves of those who served in the military buried in Holly Pond area cemeteries and place flags on Veterans Day and/or Memorial Day.
  4. To disseminate historical information and generate interest in the past by publishing historical information in newspapers and other publications; by holding meeting with lectures, papers, discussions, by marking sites and trails, and by using the media (e.g. radio, television) to awaken public interest; create an online website to share information with other members and the public.
  5. To cooperate with the State Historical Commission to collect and preserve materials of statewide significance so that these materials can be made available to students and scholars.
  6. To undertake the process of obtaining a museum, as to provide for the preservation of such material and for it accessibility, as far as feasible, to all who wish to examine or study it; cooperate with officials in insuring the preservation and accessibility of the records and archives of the county and to undertake the preservation of historic buildings, monuments, and markers .
  7. The Holly Pond Historical Society, Inc. is organized exclusively for education purposes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code...
